| Definition Of: |
summum bonum
Latin for highest good. This is the ultimate goal of the moral system presented in the second Critique; it involves the ideal distribution of happiness in exact proportion to each person's virtue. In order to conceive of its possibility, we must postulate the existence of God and human immortality, thus giving these ideas practical reality.
