DERIVATIVE CONCEPT
[A81/B107] In his discussion of Aristotle's categories, Kant criticizes Aristotle for including as categories some derivative concepts. [A575/B603] In the Dialectic he holds that all negations are derivative concepts because "no one can think a negation determinately, save by basing it upon the opposed affirmation"; negations are thus derivative on the opposed affirmations.
