OPINION
[L:73ff] Kant cites opinion as one of three "modes of holding-to-be-true", the other two being belief and knowledge. For Kant, a holding-to-be-true is a judgment that a cognition which is presented is true. Kant writes, "Opinion is problematic, believing assertoric, and knowing apodeictic judging." Opinion is "opining...out if a cognitive ground that is neither subjectively nor objectively sufficient" and is a form of preliminary judging.
