PRINCIPLE OF EXCLUDED MIDDLE

[L:58] The third "merely formal or logical criteria of truth", the other two being the principle of sufficient reason and the principle of contradiction. The principle of excluded middle grounds "the (logical) necessity of cognition", the principle of sufficient reason the logical actuality of a cognition, and the principle of contradiction the logical possibility of a cognition.
