REPRODUCTION
[A121] In the Deduction in A, an act of synthesis, performed by the reproductive imagination, and also an empirical faculty. Associated with the apprehension and synthesis of recognition, the synthesis of reproduction is, like those processes, associated with the affinity of our appearances; Kant writes, "representations reproduced... must... conform to a rule, in accordance with which a representation connects in the imagination with some one representation in preference with another. This subjective and empirical ground of reproduction according to rules is what is called the association of representations [i.e., their affinity]".
