SUBSUMPTION
108. [A137/B176] Discussed by Kant especially with reference to the Schematism. He speaks of the subsumption of objects under empirical concepts and of intuitions under pure concepts. The latter, "the subsumption of intuitions under pure concepts...[is] the application of a category to appearances." He introduces the problem of the schematism as grounding the possibility of this kind of subsumption.
