RECEPTIVITY

[A26/B42] Receptivity is another term for the faculty of sensibility, i.e. our capacity to receive "given" intuitions. In the Aesthetic he identifies receptivity with "the subjective condition under which alone we can have outer intuition...[our] liability to be affected by [unknown, "affecting"] objects." In this discussion of receptivity Kant asserts the ideality of space, that "it is...only from the human standpoint that we can speak of space, of extended things, etc."
