Most generally, the view that reality consists of two disparate parts. In philosophy of mind, the belief that the mental and physical are deeply different in kind: thus the mental is at least not identical with the physical. All things are forms of two substances. Pythagoras said that the world arises from a limitation of the unlimited. Plato said that the world consists in Matter and the Ideas. Other forms of dualism contrasted Evil and Good as two eternal entities. See Epistemological dualism
